Reggie Jackson, Mr. October

See http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/2010-12-14-reggie-jackson-yankees-baby-boomers_N.htm?csp=hf.

Dad and I saw him play for the Angels and he hit 3 homers that night.

Bob Feller Passes On

See http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/baseball/mlb/12/15/feller.obit.ap/index.html?eref=sihp.

Longest living hall of famer. From Iowa and I met him with my father. I also met Ted Williams with my son at Feller's hometown museum in Van Meter.

Left baseball to serve in the Navy during WWII.

Sir, rest in peace. Thank you for the entertainment and thank you for your service.

Original Basketball Rules Sold For $4.3 Million

See http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=5905757 on Dr. Naismith's grand invention.

I miss nothing more than being a member of a basketball team.

Chs. Phoenix Slide Of The Week, Sears

See http://www.charlesphoenix.com/category/slide-of-the-week/.

I love the Sears picture and his description there about the Sears catalog...exactly like my home in the '60s and '70s down to the husky jeans.

You can sign up to get a weekly slide from him in your email account. He finds these slides at garage sales, etc.

The Slinky Toy

See history at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slinky.

And the company at www.poof-slinky.com.

How'd the advertising jingle go?

Top College Basketball Arenas

http://www.informativesports.com/NCAA_B/0310/Top_Arenas.htm

I'm hoping to soon visit MacArthur Court at the U. of Oregon before they move to the new Knight Arena next year.

As the article says MacArthur is the second oldest still being used...it opened in 1926.

See http://www.thenewstribune.com/2010/12/01/1447178/nebraska-oklahoma-a-blast-from.html.

Gotta love the old Big Eight.

He passed on and left instructions that it not be released for 100 years.

It is flying off the shelves and currently backordered at most stores and sites.
